THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY OF LUGANSK (LSMU)

The Medical University of Lugansk, better known as LSMU or Saint Luka Lugansk State Medical University, is a relatively old university founded in 1956 and one of the three public universities in Lugansk Republic of Russia and only one to offer degree courses in Medicine and Surgery.

It has 1 main campus & 4 branches:

·       Main campus located in the Lugansk City and hosting almost every faculty. Almost linked to all government city hospitals & clinics.

·       Other 4 in cities Anthracite, Sverdlovsk, Starobelsky and Stakhanov, which hosts the Faculty of Nursing, Lab technicians and other medicine relative courses.

However, the SAINT LUKA Medical University of Lugansk has International Faculty of Medicine & Surgery (IFMS) where the UG & PG courses entirely in English since 2006.

The University campus is the main lecture and clerkship venue. However, during the first two years, labs are held at the Main campus: just a few times in the first semester, often for laboratories, and once a week for the second semester for Microscopic Anatomy and Biochemistry labs. Then, you will go a couple more times during the second year to follow some Microbiology labs.

From third year onwards clinical wise your classes and lectures will be conducted in campus Hospitals. IFMS basically built for offline campus study with innovated infrastructures like histo-anatomical labs, Microbiology sector, Physiology laboratory, Hospital autopsy-forensic department and more.

• It’s close to the hospital environment from the first year and clerkships in the ward start from the second semester of the second year
• The English language has become crucial in all medical and scientific research therefore, studying directly in English will easily help you understand all the medical literature
• As there are only 15 20 students in a group, you are well looked after during clerkships and laboratory activities
• The hospital is easy to reach (as well in campus)
• Students collaborate significantly older colleagues are very kind and helpful, and you can ask them anything!
• There are many international students who create a cosmopolitan environment that allows you to come into contact with many different cultures and traditions
• After graduation, you can register for the Postgraduate
• The secretary’s office for IFMS is placed directly inside the campus, which gives you direct contact in case of issues or organizational problems
